General

Riding in a helicopter provides a thrilling opportunity to see the beautiful Smoky Mountains area from a different perspective. Scenic Helicopter Tours prides itself on quality over quantity. Our helicopters are equipped with comfortable, leather passenger seats and expansive windows for the best visibility. Before your flight, your pilot will give you a safety briefing. Seating arrangements are determined by the weight and balance of the aircraft by the pilot. Our pilots are your aerial adventure guides and will make your tour an exceptional and memorable experience!

You don’t need to bring anything apart from your camera for taking videos and photos. You may also bring your cellphone for taking photos. We also suggest wearing comfortable shoes and dark-colored clothing for taking better photos. Light-colored clothing reflects on the transparent windows and can cause undesirable flares in your photos. This is why it is recommended to wear dark clothing when riding in a helicopter.

The maximum per-passenger seat rating is 300 pounds. If one or more persons in your party exceed the maximum weight requirement per seat, we can still accommodate you in our next larger-sized aircraft that holds up to 4 or 6 passengers. Please call for pricing and scheduling options.

Note: Per FAA regulations and in the interest of your safety, all passengers must be weighed upon arrival. But don’t worry, only the flight crew will have access to passenger weights, and all information will be kept confidential.

Absolutely! One of our biggest thrills is to enable those who cannot hike the back-country trails to still enjoy the beauty of our area.

Our flights are typically very smooth as if you were riding in a car. That being said, no two people are alike and weather conditions can play a role in helicopter movement.

Yes, we often welcome pregnant women to fly with Scenic Helicopters. We always recommend checking with your doctor prior to booking.

The Smoky Mountains region is one of the best places in the world for helicopter experiences. On occasion, poor visibility or very high winds may cause a flight delay. Cancellations are typically not an issue. In the case of a delay, you may either re-book the flight for a later date or wait until the pilot clears you for flying.

However, if we need to cancel a tour for any reason, we will contact you and offer you the option to reschedule. If rescheduling is not a possibility (due to travel plans, for instance), we will refund the full amount.

A sudden change of plans? Notify us more than 24 hours in advance of your flight’s departure and we will happily rebook your flight for a later available date or time at no extra cost. No-shows will be charged in full with no refunds.

Please arrive about 20 to 30 minutes prior to flight time to allow time for the safety briefing.

Our fleet consists of three different types of helicopters that can accommodate from 2 to 6 passengers depending upon the aircraft.

There is no age limit. We want everyone to experience the joy of flying! Children aged 23 months and under qualify as lap children. So if you don’t mind them riding in your lap, they can ride at no extra charge.

To keep our prices affordable, we do fill all seats for each flight. The seating configuration varies per helicopter and maxes out at six guests for our largest aircraft. Private (charter) flights are available.

All of our tours depart from our heliport located at 1949 Winfield Dunn Parkway, Sevierville, Tennessee. For your convenience, we also have an information/reservations office located at 1965 Parkway in Pigeon Forge.

No. Title 14 of The Code of Federal Regulations, Part 382.117, states that animals cannot fly if “the animal obstructs an aisle or other area that must remain unobstructed to facilitate an emergency evacuation.” Every exit and aisle on a helicopter is an emergency exit and aisle. Additionally, as no one can be certain of how an animal will react in a high-stress situation, their access to the flight controls is a major safety concern to all aboard the helicopter.

Pilot gratuities are accepted and greatly appreciated.

Yes, we can accommodate most requests. If you have an area in particular that you wish to fly over, please make your requests at the time of reservation or contact us now.
